What is an Ewallet?

An Ewallet allows you to send money quickly and securely to a recipient using their phone number.

Who can I send an Ewallet to?

You can send an Ewallet to anyone with a valid South African mobile number.

How long does it take to process an Ewallet?

Processing typically takes less than 5 minutes.

Can I cancel an Ewallet after sending it?

An Ewallet can be canceled once sent, as long as it has not yet been redeemed. To cancel, please contact our support team via the in-app chat.

Can an Ewallet expire?

An Ewallet will expire 30 days after bring sent. Once it expires, the sender will be automatically refunded the full amount minus the fee.

What does the recipient need to retrieve the funds?

The recipient will receive an SMS with:

  • A voucher number
  • A PIN
  • Instructions on where to retrieve the funds

Where can the recipient withdraw the Ewallet?

The SMS will include a list of supported locations (e.g., Nedbank ATMs, PnP, Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer stores and Kazang).

What should I do if the recipient does not receive the SMS?

Please contact SOLmate support in the in-app chat, so the SMS can be resent.

What is the fee to send an Ewallet?

There is a flat fee of R20 to send an Ewallet.

Is there a limit to how much I can send via eWallet?

Yes, there is a R3000 transaction limit.
