SOLmate is your financial mate. It’s the simplest account which you can open with only an SA ID or your valid foreign passport
To start enjoying SOLmate, there are 5 simple steps:
Step 1. Download the SOLmate mobile app
Step 2. Register with your phone number. Use the international format eg. +27601112233.
Step 3. Verify your identity online - go to Settings and choose Identity Verification. You have to submit only two photos:

• Valid passport (foreign passport allowed) or SA ID card
• Just a selfie, photo of yourself

Our onboarding team will receive your submission and process it, usually within 1 business day. Watch out for app notification and in-app Chat for feedback. Make sure you enable SOLmate app notifications in Settings.
Step 4. Order your SOL Card. Physical SOL Card - select the delivery method and delivery address.
Step 5. Pay the card activation fee. You can do it by:

• EFT transfer directly into your SOLmate profile
• Cash payment via any Standard Bank ATM
• Cash payment in selected retail shops via Pay@
• Receiving a transfer from another SOLmate user

When you receive your SOL Card

• activate it in the SOLmate app
• set up your personal card PIN on the SOLmate app

SOL Card comes with a zero balance. Before you can pay with your SOL Card, you need to load it with money from your SOLmate app balance.
To do it:

• Click on the card image in the main SOLmate app screen
• Tap the "Load" button
• Enter the amount to load and confirm the transaction.

Now you can swipe the card in any shop in South Africa or withdraw cash in any ATM nationwide.

An Ewallet allows you to send money quickly and securely to a recipient using their phone number.
Who can I send an Ewallet to?
You can send an Ewallet to anyone with a valid South African mobile number.
How long does it take to process an Ewallet?
Processing typically takes less than 5 minutes.
Can I cancel an Ewallet after sending it?
An Ewallet can be canceled once sent, as long as it has not yet been redeemed. To cancel, please contact our support team via the in-app chat.
Can an Ewallet expire?
An Ewallet will expire 30 days after bring sent. Once it expires, the sender will be automatically refunded the full amount minus the fee.
What does the recipient need to retrieve the funds?
The recipient will receive an SMS with:

• A voucher number
• A PIN
• Instructions on where to retrieve the funds

Where can the recipient withdraw the Ewallet?
The SMS will include a list of supported locations (e.g., Nedbank ATMs, PnP, Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer stores and Kazang).
What should I do if the recipient does not receive the SMS?
Please contact SOLmate support in the in-app chat, so the SMS can be resent.
What is the fee to send an Ewallet?
There is a flat fee of R20 to send an Ewallet.
Is there a limit to how much I can send via eWallet?
Yes, there is a R3000 transaction limit.

wiCode is a digital payment method that allows you to deposit and withdraw money using a unique code at participating retailers. Simply generate a wiCode in the SOLmate app and use it to complete your transaction at checkout.
Deposits
How do I deposit money using wiCode?

• Open the SOLmate app and click “Receive money”
• Choose "wiCode Deposit" as your top up method
• Enter the amount and generate your unique wiCode
• Visit a participating retailer and provide the wiCode at the till to complete your deposit

Where can I deposit money using wiCode?
You can deposit at any of the following participating retailers: Shoprite, Checkers, and Usave.
Are there any deposit limits?
Yes, maximum deposit per day is R15 000, maximum deposit per month is R24 000.
Is there a fee for depositing money via wiCode?
The transaction fee is 1.75% (minimum R14)
How long does it take for my deposit to reflect?
Deposits via wiCode are processed instantly. If you experience any delays, please contact our support team.
Withdrawals
How do I withdraw money using wiCode?

• Open the SOLmate app and click “Send money”
• Choose "wiCode Withdrawal" as your withdrawal method
• Enter the amount and generate your unique wiCode
• Visit a participating retailer, present your wiCode, and receive your cash

Where can I withdraw money using wiCode?
You can deposit at any of the following participating retailers: Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, and Pick n Pay.
Are there any withdrawal limits?
Yes, maximum withdrawal per day is R10 000, maximum withdrawal per month is R24 000.
Is there a fee for withdrawing money via wiCode?
Yes, there is a flat fee of R6 for all withdrawal transactions.
General
Does my wiCode expire?
Yes, both deposit and withdrawal wiCodes expire after 15 minutes.
What should I do if my wiCode doesn’t generate successfully?
Wait 5 minutes and try again. If the issue continues, please reach out to our support team.
Can I generate multiple wiCodes at once?
No, you can only generate one wiCode at a time.

Any registered SOLmate user can earn rewards for inviting other users:

• Tap Settings and then Rewards
• Find your invitation code
• Use buttons in that screen to copy the code, send it via WhatsApp or share in your Facebook page
• Your friends can register for SOLmate using your link, or can enter your invite code in the Rewards section of their SOLmate app
• As soon as your friend pays the SOL Card activation fee, you get R40 reward and your friend will get R10 reward

There are no earning limits! Feel free to invite any number of people, and you will be rewarded immediately when we receive the activation fee from them (note that it may take 1-3 business days for their payments to reach us!

First of all, check your SOL Card balance.
Note that you have two different balances: your SOLmate app balance and your SOL Card balance. The Card comes with a zero balance. You need to load money onto your card from your SOLmate app ZARs balance before you can swipe or withdraw:

• Tap the card image on the Accounts screen
• Tap Load button
• Enter the amount and confirm the transfer (note the load fee)

There are a few other reasons why your card might have been declined:

• you did not set your card PIN inside the SOLmate app
• you inserted your card incorrectly: chip should be inserted face up and inside the card machine
• your card was not activated inside the SOLmate app

SOLmate is a digital payments platform for individuals living in South Africa. You can receive your salary and other payments, send money to others, pay your bills, and pay or withdraw anywhere in South Africa with your SOL Card.
SOLmate is not a bank. It’s a mobile app to manage your SOL Card and your money, while the money is stored in a secured trust bank account. All payment services are provided by 3rd parties who are authorized FSPs or TPPPs.
Your money is kept in a safe custody account at the bank, and supervised by a registered FSP under the the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). Only you can touch your money.
The SOLmate app is linked to your phone number by an OTP, protected by PIN/fingerprint/FaceID and device-specific encryption keys. If you lose your device, no one can access your SOLmate profile without your PIN. You can also restore your SOLmate profile onto any new device.
Your card balance is carefully stored in a dedicated bank account. The Card is extremely well secured - Chime 128-bit AES encryption, access control and security processes exist to protect your sensitive information and prevent unauthorized use.
Only you can transact with your money on your SOLmate profile. No debit order or any other 3rd party charge can be placed against your SOLmate profile.
